Jay Faught

Transportation Director

Los Alamos National Laboratory

I am currently the Transportation Director for Los Alamos National Laboratory where I lead a team of professionals to plan and implement new programs and services that help our employees make the choice to share a ride instead of drive alone. I bring more than 20 years of experience in the transportation industry in Ohio, New Mexico, and California. I have unique experience in the field of transportation planning, operations, and communications. Additionally, I have worked as a public information officer, tv reporter, and weather forecaster.

Transit Programs

I have lead a wide variety of successful transit programs. I have managed teams for the City of Albuquerque's Transit Department, the Rio Metro Regional Transit District, the San Diego Association of Governments, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. This includes the planning and implementation of new programs and services.

Bike Programs

I was responsible for the operations and expansion of 700 electronic bike parking spaces at over 65 locations in San Diego County.  Additionally, I have managed one of the nation's largest Bike to Work Day events for over 6 years, and I have partnered with local bike advocates to provide free bike education classes, tune ups and group rides to encourage more people to bike.

Employer Programs

One of the most successful ways to change commuting behavior is to reach people through a trusted source, their employer.  I have managed a team of account executives in Albuquerque and San Diego that work with hundreds of employers to do just that.  On average, employers that participated in our program were able to reduce their drive alone rate by 10%. And now I'm bringing that same rate of success to Los Alamos National Laboratory.

BROADCASTING

With a degree in journalism and a minor in meteorology there was a time when I thought I was going to spend my entire career in front of the camera forecasting the weather.  While I will always have a strong passion for meteorology and an obsession with local news, I can always look back and remember the fun times.  Take a look at some of my clips from WLIO-TV in Lima, Ohio, WHIO-TV in Dayton and KRQE-TV in Albuquerque, NM.
